10 Breakfast Ideas Your Kids Will Adore

by Heather

I don’t know about you, but feeding my little one in the morning can often be a challenge. She doesn’t want to eat the same old bowl of cereal every day, but it can be hard to think of fun new ideas to try. Here are ten breakfast ideas that your kids will adore, and want you to make over and over again!

Omelet

A healthy breakfast idea that will give your kids a good start to their day is an omelet. Eggs are a popular choice as they are filling for the morning and are full of nutrients your kid needs. The good thing about omelets is that you can fill them up with fun ingredients that your little one(s) will love. You could go for something savory such as cheese and tomato or even ham and mushroom. Remember to use a couple of eggs so it’s nice and fluffy. Omelets don’t take too long in the morning if you prep the ingredients you are going to use before you start cooking!

Oatmeal

If you want something other than cereal for your kid’s breakfast, then you could consider picking up some oatmeal. It’s extremely healthy for your kids as it’s full of fiber and protein to give them energy and strength. It doesn’t take too long to cook and is ideal in colder months when you want to warm their bellies. Looking for a creamier flavor? Why not try it with milk! You could also add some dry fruit and frozen berries to make it tastier for your littles.

Pancakes

Another breakfast idea that your kids will love is pancakes. They are a filling breakfast idea which will mean they won’t snack during the morning. You can make the mix yourself, or you can buy a pancake mix from brands such as Hampton Creek. You can find Hampton Creek at Target and using a mix can save you time in the morning. Pancakes are ideal as you can use syrup or sugar to make it tastier. Make them more healthy by adding fruit such as bananas for your kids to enjoy.

Muffins

You can also make some muffins for your little ones to enjoy at breakfast time. By choosing the right flavors you can provide a delicious “treat” which will entice them as it will be like eating a cake! ;) You can buy them ready made or you can make your own if you have the time. You could choose to make healthy muffins such as a blueberry or a banana and walnut muffin. Or you can choose to add chocolate to make it more fun for the kids and adults alike.

Scrambled Eggs

If you want something delicious that will fill a little tummy for hours, you should consider making your kids scrambled eggs for breakfast. It’s a delicious breakfast that they can either enjoy on their own or on toast. As it says here, they are protein-rich and are so easy to make. Again, you can experiment with what you want to put in the scrambled eggs when they are made. A lot of people have them plain as they still taste delicious. Or you could add in cheese, ham, or perhaps even smoked salmon for a unique taste.

Yogurt

Another healthy but delicious breakfast idea is YOGURT! It’s easy to eat first thing in the morning and can help line your child’s stomach for the day ahead. You could make your own or buy ready made yogurt. You can add so much to yogurt to make it taste even more delicious. A lot of people use granola to help keep their kids healthy. Or you may want to add some fruits and nuts to the yogurt, so they get some of their required daily fruit. To make it more fun, you could add some chocolate chips, so they feel like they are enjoying a treat.

Fruit

If you want your kids to have a great start to the day, you should get them a bowl of fruit as a delicious and healthy breakfast. There is a wide variety of fruit your child could try, and it will taste great in a bowl altogether. You could add some yogurt or sugar to make the fruit more appealing to your little one(s). It’s also something very quick for you to make, and for them to take to eat in the car if they run out of time.

Bagel

Another breakfast idea that your kids will love in the morning is a bagel. It’s a fun alternative to toast and easy to make as an on the go morning meal. You can toast it quickly and then fill with ingredients such as peanut butter and jelly, butter, or cream cheese and salmon. To make it more fun and healthy, you could add some cucumber and tomato to give the bagel a funny face as you can see here.

Toast

It’s one of the most popular breakfasts worldwide as it’s so easy to make at the start of the day. Kids love toast as it’s delicious and gives them some of their required carbs for the day. You can use different spreads to make it more fun, such as Nutella and peanut butter. You can even try adding some fruit on top of the toast to make it taste even more delicious. Another good thing about toast is it doesn’t take too long to make or eat either. Double bonus points for this one!

Croissant

If you fancy bringing something a bit different to the breakfast table, why not buy some croissants for your kid to enjoy for at the start of their day! The good thing about croissants is you can either eat them cold or hot. You can also buy ones which are filled with chocolate called pain au chocolat for something more delicious for your children. You can always buy plain ones, then chop them in half and fill them with cheese and tomato. Pastries always go down well with kids as they are seen as more of a treat.

If you have a family member who’s a diabetic, we talked previously about a good book full of breakfast recipes which will suit their needs.

What is your GO TO for breakfast?

All my little ones are grown but it was really rare that they are cereal at all. I cooked eggs, oatmeal, French toast, pancakes, always something got in the AM. Still to this day they don't eat cereal.

I'm so lazy that I don't cook. If it weren't for my husband I'd live on a candy bar a day. That being said, I'm glad the kids are adults. I did cook when they were young. But, I'd use microwave pancakes.

Ha, well given that Alysia won't condone the importing of even a strawberry to her cereal bowl I don't think I'd get far with these; great ideas though!

My son is a very picky eater he doesn't eat a lot of things, but I've noticed he started eating a toasted bagel with cream cheese so I guess that is good right... Also he loves his pancakes and waffles with chicken (:

You need 10 breakfast ideas I would love because unlike the rest of America, I don't care for breakfast. My go-to breakfast items are granola bars. I also love hash browns. Hope my children love breakfast.
