According to HealthyChildren.org, suicide is the third leading cause of death among males and females, age 15 to 24. Did you know?

Here are a few statics, courtesy of Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE), that may shock you.

  • There is one death by suicide in the US every 13 minutes.
  • Every day, approximately 105 Americans die by suicide.
  • Suicide takes the lives of over 38,000 Americans every year.
  • Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US for all ages.
  • There is one suicide for every estimated 25 suicide attempts.

As I sit here now, at the age of 34, I know that 20 years ago I almost became a part of this statistic, I almost became a number, I almost became a baby that someone lost. I almost … As I sit here now, at the age of 34, looking at my amazing 5-year-old, I am so thankful that I didn’t. I almost … As I sit here now, at the age of 34, crying for the loss of someone who was just like me, I am so thankful that I didn’t. I almost …

If you watch USA Today then you know that Grammy Award winning band, Train, recently premiered their new music video “Give It All.” The video was designed to raise awareness of a national issue that needs attention – NOW – teen suicide. It was created to inspire and empower people. Two incredibly gifted teenage dancers were selected to communicate the message of loss, hope, and strength through dance and art.

Train, SoulPancake; the production company of Train and Rain Wilson, and Pink Ninja Blogger believe this is something that can’t be ignored. This video CAN impact, change, and save lives. It all starts with you.

This is the story of a relationship that has abruptly come to an end due to a situation beyond the main character’s control. Feeling tortured and inspired, he discovers that the only way to move on is to create a tangible out of the memories.

Shot in Seattle, Washington, the video is Directed by SoulPancake’s Bayan Joonam and Chris Koser serves as Director of Photography. The two featured dancers, Israel “Izzy” Harris (16) and Ashleigh Mitchell (17) join together to convey a message of loss, healing, and letting go.

“Give It All” is featured on Train’s latest album Bulletproof Picasso. Currently, Train is on a 40+ city tour that will conclude in Quincy, Washington on July 25th. WOW! Thanks very much for the review/information on Teen Suicide Prevention ~ Impact, Change, and Save Lives! This is a very sad subject. I never knew that the statistics were that high! I think that everyone goes through a rough patch at one time or another and truly does think about it, however, most people think first about the effect it will have on our loved ones, friends, etc. We then decide that it's not worth it. Also, If you are a Catholic, like me, it's considered a mortal sin to commit suicide and you will go straight to hell! I think it's wonderful what the band Train and the other one Soul Pancake are doing! It's wonderful that the girls were in the video to help the cause! It's just plain wonderful what they are doing to Stop Suicide! Thanks so much for sharing your review/information, the video, and your personal and professional information on Teen Suicide Prevention ~ Impact, Change, and Save Lives with all of us! You know that I always appreciate your reviews and information! Thanks again for sharing about this horrible thing! Michele

This is so upsetting, and real. When a child dies at that age that way there are so many 'what ifs', and 'if onlys'. Anyway they can be reached is important.

It's really very sad. The teenage years are difficult for many of us. I had a rough time myself. I think we all need to be more aware and try to reach out and , if nothing else, lend an ear to someone that has nobody to talk to.

This is so important. Its amazing how many young people are so troubled they believe suicide is their only option. My heart goes out to them as I'm also suffering from depression and can understand how confusing and hard life can be at times.
