I’ll admit that I’m not super flashy. I’m a regular dude. Dad. Hubby. Mower of grass. Fixer of broken toys. Wielder of the Sharp Knife That Opens Boxes. My regular outfit is jeans and a t-shirt. I don’t have a lot of bling and I’m not “stylin.” In fact, for the longest time my only “bling” was my wedding ring. Haha, that rhymes. I wonder if I can sell that lyric to Beyoncé.
But at some point the wife bought me a very nice watch for Christmas. That doesn’t mean it was expensive. We’re not talking a Rolex or a Rouchefoucauld (watch Trading Places to get the reference) but it was a nice watch. Then I dug out a watch I received a few years before at a wedding. It had a leather band and didn’t fit for the longest time, but it fits now so I started to wear that on occasion.
And suddenly I had a watch collection. In a way, I officially have bling. So they’re not Rolex’s or diamonds or gold plated iPhones, they’re my own little version of bling. One of them is even Mickey Mouse. Mostly I wear them to work or when the wife and I decide to have a fancy date night out and I want to look snazzy. I even have a very nice watch case to hold my collection.
Now I am up to about seven watches in my collection. And while they’re all nice, none of them are really…unique. And then one day the wife shows me an email she got from a company called Jord. “You have to look at this.” She said, “These are really cool.” Now as a blogger she gets offers to review things fairly often. Usually she runs it by me and I’ll respond with something along the lines of “Oooh, we could use that” or “That looks neat.” Sometimes we get the item and I am blown away. And then very rarely, I see something and my immediate response is “OMG I want that.” And then I receive it.
And it is infinitely more awesome than I could have hoped for; the Dover Series Ebony and Copper by Jord Wood Watches. Now when you think about a wood timepiece, you are probably picturing a cuckoo clock.
A Cuckoo clock this is not.
This is about the most elegant watch I believe I have ever owned. And yes, it is made out of wood. The watch itself is not wood. The watch is a precision self-winding timepiece. The band is beautiful dark ebony wood, so smooth and polished that you almost can’t tell until you look closely and see the fine grain of the wood itself. The watch has an elegant copper ring showing off the timepiece to create a striking contrast. They have a measuring guide to find the perfect fit for your wrist. Jord finished the band with Tung oil which makes it easy to care for and maintain. Simply put, this is a watch that I foresee lasting for many years.
I am pretty sure that I know where I am going to fill up the last few spots in my watch case. So if you have a man (or a woman) in your life that could benefit from a small splash of serious cool. Check out Jord Wood Watches.
