It’s been 14 years since The Incredibles came out. When it comes to sequels, it turns out it was worth the wait. Incredibles 2 is coming June 15 and if you loved the first, you should get ready to be wowed.
Let’s start at the start. Incredibles 2 is accompanied by a short film, Bao. I’m not going to say much about it other than if you are a parent and this short film does not leave you in tears then you have no heart. Pixar is very good at doing that with their short films.
Now on to the main feature: Incredibles 2. The sequel picks up right where the original left off. The Underminer is attacking and the Parr family steps in to save the day.
However, Supers are still illegal and the effort to thwart the Underminer is less than successful and less than appreciated by the government and the general public. However, there is an effort underway to reverse that and bring back the Supers, and it all starts with Elastigirl. When Helen Parr comes back to help generate some positive press for Supers, family life falls to Bob. I won’t spoil what follows but let’s just say it is a bit of an adjustment for the intrepid Mr. Incredible.
You will laugh, you will cry (don’t judge me, I did), if you are a parent, many parts of the movie will resonate with you.
14 years was definitely worth the wait. Check out Incredibles 2 in theaters now.
