Capturing Picture Perfect Memories

I would love to say I am well-traveled. I’m not but I would love to say I am. As an adult I have only been to a few places aside from where I live. Now as a child I went all over. I would say conservatively that I have been to every state in the eastern half of the US, but all before the age of 18. I have vague recollections of what I saw; somewhere in a box I think I have one or two pictures lying around. And that’s kind of a shame, because I went to some cool places and saw some awesome stuff.

  • Peak of Mount Washington in the White Mountains. Check. Pictures? Nope.
  • Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Check. Pictures? Nope.
  • Space Shuttle Launch. Check. Pictures? Nope
  • Scuba Diving with Sharks in the Bahamas. Check. Pictures? Nope.

It would be really cool if I had more than just vague memories of all the things I’ve seen and done. I can tell my daughter about swimming with the sharks, but I can never show her a picture of the shark swimming next to me a foot from my face 50 feet under water.

But you know what I can show her? I can show her pictures of me standing next to a thousand year old stone carving in India. I can show her a picture of me standing next to El Castillo in Chichen Itza (just looking up at it since you can’t climb it anymore). I can show her pictures of swimming with Dolphins in Hawaii. I can show her the USS Arizona Memorial. So when she’s older she will have more than vague memories. We can show her that yes, we were there, or I was there and this is what I saw.

So now when I travel, I make sure I have a camera. And not just my cell phone. I mean a real camera. A cell phone is okay for a quick shot or selfie, but when I’m going somewhere I want to remember, I want to remember it with a good picture and that means taking it with a quality camera, known around my house as the “ah-mah-zing camera.”

The Olympus®OM-D E-M5 Mark II is one of those “ah-mah-zing” cameras. The Mark II is an awesome camera that has all the features I love. For one thing, a fully articulated touch screen. That means when you need to get a picture by holding the camera above your head you can still see the screen to see what you are taking a picture of. Or how about Advanced Image Stabilization, no more blurry pictures because you can’t keep your hands steady. Or my favorite, the lightweight weatherproof body. We’ve all been there when it started sprinkling outside and you scramble to make sure not a drop hits your camera. No, this would not have helped me with the shark pictures, but hey, they have an underwater camera housing for that too.

And the best part of all right now, with the Olympus “Takes You There” promotion going on right now, you can get a free airline flight to help you go somewhere and make some memories of your own.

Where do you want to go with your free flight?
