Spa Day. Just saying the words conjures up images of pampering and relaxation and the removal of stress. Do you know how long it has been since I have had a spa day? Forever. And I don’t mean that in the metaphorical, “oh it’s been so long since I’ve had a spa day. I’m so overdue!” kind of way. I mean literally forever. I’ve never had a spa day. I’ve had a massage here and there. And I’ve gotten a pedicure once or twice. But that’s about it. And now that my daughter is in full time kindergarten I actually have the time to take a spa day.

But what about my other kids? The four legged ones. Wouldn’t it be fun to take them along on spa day? Instead of a mommy/daughter spa day I could do a mommy/puppy spa day. What would that be like I wonder?

To start off with, I think we could all use a pedicure. Right now the hubby usually does my toenails, and he also trims the dog’s nails too. I think it’s time for a professional to do it. Then it’s time for a manicure. Well for me, the dogs will still be on the pedicure. They do have four paws after all. The main difference here is that while I will be sitting there getting pampered and relaxing, the dogs will be alternating between snapping at and licking whoever is trimming their nails. Well, I shouldn’t say alternating. My good one will be snapping; he doesn’t like getting his nails trimmed. My dopey one will be slobbering and licking someone’s face.

Next up will be the massage. Do dogs get massages? Okay, I will be getting a massage. They will be getting their bellies rubbed. I think that works as the doggy equivalent of a massage. My good boy will be lying there contentedly. My dopey boy will be slobbering and licking someone’s face.

After the massage I think it will be time for lunch. For me a nice watercress salad…sorry, I had to throw that in. That’s what people who have spa days do right? Not so much, a nice double decker sandwich or steak for lunch for me. For the dogs, I think some IAMS Healthy Naturals would be appropriate and it just so happens that there is a Walmart right across the street! This is perfect since Walmart is the go-to place for IAMS. I couldn’t have planned it better if I tried. Hmmm, that goes well with a spa right?

Next up, the mud bath! I hear that is relaxing. Maybe I will let the dogs get the mud bath, and I’ll go sit in the sauna. Someone else has to clean them up after the mud bath right? Not me? I have to clean them up after their “mud baths” at home as it is. I think it is someone else’s turn.

Finally it’s time for a facial. Again that is something I have never experienced. I will be sitting there getting cucumbers put on my eyes and exfoliating cream on my face. The dogs will be getting…I’m not sure. What’s the doggy equivalent of a facial? They would eat the cucumbers and lick off the exfoliating cream. Do they even need exfoliating cream? Would peanut butter work instead? I know they like peanut butter.

You know, maybe a mommy/puppy spa day isn’t such a good idea after all. Oh well, now that we are sitting in the parking lot, the least I could do is drive across the street to Walmart and pick up some IAMS Healthy Naturals.

"Felix, did mom mention dinner?"

I have never been to a spa. Heck, I've never even had a manicure. A dog spa day? I'm not touching that!

Iams is a great food. In the 7 years that I worked at the vet, it's all the doctor recommended to clients.

We don't have a dog at this point and when we start looking again I will be checking out a few brands and this is one of them. I want to make sure my dog gets the best food for his needs.

So many people don't give a second thought to what they feed their dogs. I like that Iams does not have empty fillers in it!

My cat only eats Iams - if I give her anything else lately she will just turn her nose up at it and give me that look. That look your cat gives when they plan to attack you in your sleep as payback for your mistake... Lol. It's a great brand.

We have a toy breed pup and she goes almost everywhere with us. She thinks she's one of the humans and would love to accompany me on a spa day!

Iams has always been a great brand. I used to feed it to my cat when she was alive, she loved it. That is one spoiled pooch - too cute!

I wish we could have dogs, but we rent so it isn't allowed. I think my daughter uses this dog food for her two pups.

Ha ha when I started reading your post all I could think was, my dog would HATE a spa day with me! She would enjoy that food though, and the peanut butter you mentioned!

I love your idea of a spa day for dogs. It could turn out to either be a big success or quite comical. They would love the mud bath I think and what dog doesn't love peanut butter.

I'm a dog lover. No one will agree more than I do that our pets derve to be pampered as much as we humans pamper ourselves.
