5 Reasons to See PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES on the Big Screen {Spoiler Free Review}

by Heather

I attended the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES #PiratesLifeEvent courtesy of Walt Disney Studios.  All opinions are strictly my own.

On Saturday, I returned home from a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles to experience PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES up close and personal with a group of 24 other amazing bloggers. After kicking off the event with a fun night at Dave & Buster’s where we enjoyed dinner, drinks, games, and the new game “Disney Crossy Road: Pirates of the Caribbean,”  I was excited for the film’s premiere the following night.

In all fairness, I should note that I am a HUGE fan of the franchise and can often be found curled up on the couch watching PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL … it’s my favorite! I instantly fell in love with Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and even found a tender place in my heart for Captain Hector Barbossa. To say that I was excited, nay thrilled… no, ECSTATIC to hear that a fifth film was coming out would be an understatement. I’ve been waiting well over a year for this and was honored when Disney invited me to be a part of the film’s premiere.

My trip to LA was packed full of fun surrounding the film’s release. We were able to meet members of the cast (more on that later this week), visit Disney Archives to learn about the history of Pirates of the Caribbean (more on that soon), and we walked the Red Carpet for the World Premiere of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES (so the carpet was actually aqua, that’s not the point). After seeing the film …

CAPTAIN SALAZAR

I’ve always been a huge fan of Captain Jack Sparrow’s adversaries and how they came to be. I enjoy watching the story unfold, getting to know the enemy, and waiting to see if there is still a little good in this (normally) guy that seems to be so bad. Captain Salazar was no different. He’s scary, mysterious, and has a deep hatred for Jack. I had to know more and you do, too. Javier Bardem is such a great villain (does he ever play the good guy?) that it’s easy to get caught up in the character.

CAPTAIN BARBOSSA

Through the years and as the franchise has grown, we have watched Captain Hector Barbossa evolve. Is he good? Is he bad? Is he on Jack’s side? Is the Black Pearl all that he is really interested in? He’s one of my favorite character’s in the storyline because he’s constantly making moves. You never know exactly what he is up to and I love that! When I think of Barbossa, the first thing that comes to mind is the other side of the coin but with Hector, the coin just keeps flipping and he just keeps changing. I assure you my friends, this film is no different, there is more to the story when it comes to Barbossa, don’t you wonder what he will be up to next? However, I am disinclined to acquiesce to any requests to reveal more at this time.

WILL TURNER & ELIZABETH SWANN

Need I say more? I mean, really, I could just give them as a reason and that should be enough. Don’t you wonder what happened to Will? Don’t you wonder what happened to Elizabeth? It’s been TEN YEARS since we’ve seen them and a lot change in that time. If you recall, they married and had a child before Will became Captain of the Flying Dutchman. If you are a true fan of Pirates then you, like me, have wondered about Will and Elizabeth often. What did the green flash mean? Is Will still captain of the Dutchman? I’m disinclined…oh wait, I already used that line. Well, you will have to see the movie to find out!

CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW

Johnny Depp aside, I am a huge fan of Captain Jack Sparrow. He’s brilliant and nuts rolled into one, a pirate like nothing we’ve ever seen. He is the consummate goofball that learns nothing yet still has everything end up going his way.

So have you ever wondered where it all began? How Captain Jack Sparrow came to be? Does he plan it all out or make it up as he goes along? DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES may provide the answers.

And, if I am being honest, anytime someone wants to offer me 129 minutes of Jack Sparrow fun, I’m all in

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

Did I mention that I am a HUGE fan of everything Pirates? If you have seen the films and aren’t, then you need to watch them again! Every movie is chock full of action, mystery, fun, and laughter. When one film ends, I am ready for the next zany adventure and to see what kind of trouble Jack will get into. I love the cast, the pirates, the ship, and the monkey!

It’s been six years since we’ve last visited the crew and it’s time to see what they’ve been up to.

As a bonus, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES introduces a strong female character. As the momma of a 7-year-old little girl, anytime I am able to introduce her to a strong female role, I take full advantage. More on that later!

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES hits theaters THIS Friday, May 26, 2017. As Kaya Scodelario (“Carina Smyth”) shared during our interview with her, this is a movie that you NEED to see on the big screen. We agree!
